Mai's Birth

メールやコメントをしてくれた皆さん本当にありがとう。

自宅出産は本当に感動しました。今は脳が死んでいるので上手く説明できないけど、病院での出産で経験できないことばかりで、終始凜も関わっていて自分の妹がこの世に生まれてくるのを手伝えて自分の目で見ることが出来て、一日で本当のお姉さんになったように見える。我が家の一番落ち着く環境で家族全員で協力して、最後に可愛くて健全な新しい仲間に迎えて嬉しかった。
I wish I were able to coherently string words together right now, because I want to express how wonderful having our second child born in the comfort of our own home was. I would recommend home birth to anyone.
Lin was able to participate throughout and be part of bringing her little sister into the world, and Yuri was able to relax in ways that just aren't possible in a hospital. The whole process felt natural and we did it all together as a family. And after it all, we have a beautiful healthy baby daughter.


凜はびびるかと思ったらずっとマミーの力になってくれた。
We thought Lin would be frightened, but she was supportive throughout the birth.

「凜の手を握ってたら大丈夫よ、ぎゅーって強く握っても凜は全然痛くないからね!」
"Mommy, hold my hand and it'll be all right."



マミーが陣痛でじっとできなくて踊り回って、陣痛が強いときも凜が手を握って励ましてた。
Mommy paced around in pain, and Daddy and the midwife massaged her back and belly while Lin held her hand.

凜ちゃんが岡本先生のように腕まくりして手伝うの。
Lin rolls up her sleeves like Okamoto-sensei.

助産婦さんのつもりの凜ちゃん。
Lin wants to be a midwife too.


分娩のときは抱き合って、凜は手を握って、皆で呼吸した。
For the delivery, we held each other while Lin held Mommy's hand and we all breathed together.

頭が出始めたとき、凜が見えるところまで回って、頭を触って、「出る!出る!すっごく嬉しいんだよ!」と叫び回って、出たときに一番先に赤ちゃんの顔が見れた。
When the head started to come out. Lin ran around to where she could see it, touched the baby's head, and then started jumping around saying "She's coming out! I'm so happy!"
When the baby finally came out, Lin got to see her face before anyone else.

へその緒は普通50cmぐらいらしいけど、舞ちゃんはなんと69cm

でもわりと安産だったし、母親の出血も少なかった。
That's a pretty big baby.
But the birth went smoothly, and Mommy lost very litttle blood.

まだ出ないけど、一生懸命吸いつく舞ちゃん
There's no milk yet, but Mai suckled with all her might.


由佳とオーエンとおがちゃんが伝統の葉巻を持って来てくれて、ガレージでいただく。
凜ちゃんのときと同様、葉巻を半分残して、20歳の誕生日に一緒に吸うつもり。
Yuka and Owen and Oga-chan brought the traditional cigars, and we smoked them in the garage.
As I did when Lin was born, I saved half the cigar to smoke with Mai on her 20th birthday.
