Kindergarten Enrollment Ceremony

Today is Lin's kindergarten enrollment ceremony.
Aunt Nami woke up early to join us.

In Lin's new classroom, everyone's birthdays are made into decorations on the walls.

We had the ceremony as the falling cherry blossom petals swirled around us.
(The characters on the sign say "enter" "garden" "ceremony". The closest we can get in English is the less elegant "Kindergarten enrollment ceremony".)

Group picture with the new class.

Can't they just hurry up and take the picture?

One reason the Japanese start the school year in spring is so that they can begin things under the cherry blossoms. Spring is a good time for new beginnings.

In the new classroom, Lin discusses the coming year with Hana from the neighborhood.
They're lucky to be in the same class.

Good luck!

Hanano from next door also has an enrollment ceremony today.
