凜は小学校の宿題で書き初め

Lin had to write kakizome (writing Chinese characters as a resolution for the New Year)

舞にも書かせてみた。なかなか上手にかけた。

She also taught Mai how to do it. Not bad.

今年ようやく一年生になる舞の力作

Mai is going to be a first grader this year, so she wrote the character for "one".

ムーア家は新しいことをどんどん進めるー年になりそう

The whole family is going to be moving forward on a lot of new things this year, so Mommy wrote "progress".

ばあばが遊びに来たからみんなで優太の家に遊びに行った。

Baaba came to visit, so we all got together at Yuta's house.

前回遊びに行ったときにこの「浮遊」の写真がいい感じに撮れたから今回もそれに挑戦した。

Last time, I got this great levitation shot of Yuta, so I tried again this time

(I'm just attempting to copy the beautiful levitation series on http://yowayowacamera.com/)

多摩川ライズ（上昇！）をバックに。

でも「浮遊」ではなく明らかに「ジャンプ」だね。

In front of the aptly named Tamagawa Rise complex.

But this is clearly a jump rather than a levitation.

これも浮いてはいないね。

This isn't quite floating either.

優太は「浮遊」じゃなくても、透明の階段を走り下りているみたい。

While it's not exactly a levitation, Yuta does look like he's running down invisible stairs.

凜にカメラを渡したら、割と浮いてるようなものは撮れたけど、ちょっとボケているね。

I passed the camera to Lin, who managed to take a picture that looks a bit like a real levitation, but unfortunately it's out of focus.

Weekend with Yuta

マミーとダディーはツーリングに出かけている間、凛と舞は優太の家に連泊できた！

初日はプールで一日中騒いだ。

While Mommy and Daddy went touring, Lin and Mai stayed over at Yuta's house.

They spent all of the first day at the pool.

二日目は公園で機関車遊び。

And then the second day at the park playing on the old locomotive.

優太と長い時間が過ごせて嬉しい。

Lin and Mai were both thrilled to play with Yuta for the whole weekend.

色々工作も出来た。

They also made a lot of great art together.

Neighborhood camping

近所の仲間と西丹沢でキャンプ。

川が冷たくて気持ちいい。

We went camping with our neighborhood friends again.

The river was nice and cool.

でも日差しは結構暑い。

木陰でハンモックは一番だね。（チョコも同感。）

But out in the sun, it was really hot, so Yuri relaxed in a hammock in the shade (with Choco).

カメラ向けるとモデルの本能が動いちゃうみたい。

Mai switches into model mode whenever I point the camera at her.

ハンモックで焼きたてのトウモロコシもいいね。

Freshly BBQ'd corn on the cob in a hammock isn't bad either.

夜は光でアート写真を撮ってみる。

At night, the girls played with long exposure glowstick art.

そして朝は超豪華なフルーツクリームサンド

The next morning, Lin made herself a deluxe fruit sandwich.

ただ、ここに恐ろしいやつも潜んでいる。

（ダディーもマミーも刺されちゃったよ。）
大きさが分かりにくいけど超ビック！

But there were also giant caterpillars with poison spines, and both Daddy and Mommy got stung pretty badly.

Still, that was a great weekend.

Even in the mountains, it was a hot day.

But that didn't stop the kids from running around having a great time.

She had a better time once we went down the stairs to the lake. The water was cool and refreshing.

箱根園でガチョウとの交流も楽しかったみたい。

そしてその後のすっごく楽しんだ水遊び・・・

ただ、下着で遊んだ写真は載せられないんだよね。
残念！

At Hakone-en, Mai enjoyed communing with the geese.

And she really had a great time splashing in the lake afterward, but we can't put those pictures up since she was in her underwear.

Kawasaki International Festival

川崎市国際センターのインターナショナル・フェスティバルにて、

将来お花屋さんになるのが夢の舞はフラワーデザインに挑む。

At the Kawasaki International Festival, Mai tries her hand at flower design (she says she wants to be a florist when she grows up).

She was very serious about it.

でも迷いはない。
教えてくれてた先生も「この子迷いがないわ！」ってびっくりしてた。

But she was also decisive about it, and the teacher praised her for her bold and speedy design process.

次にマミーと凜は水墨画に挑戦。

Next, Mommy and Lin try suibokuga ink drawings.

時間はかかったけど、舞がやっと補助輪なしである程度こげるようになった。次の課題は安定して曲がることだね。
It took a while, but Mai can finally ride her bike without training wheels. Next up: turning!

Father's Day Ride

父の日の晴れ間で凜はダディーとバイクでプチツーリング。

バイクの後ろから色々写真を撮ってみるのも楽しい。

On Father's Day, Lin and Daddy took a quick spin on the bike once it stopped raining. Lin had fun taking pictures of the scenery from the back of the bike.

誕生日プレゼントなどをもらうとき、実は凜にとって一番嬉しいのが「箱」かもしれない。何かを作るのが大好き。

今度は舞と協力して「象と豚」。

For Lin, one of the best things about getting birthday presents is the boxes. She just loves making things.

This time, she and Mai made an elephant and a pig.

だから今回グランマとグランダからもらって指輪作りセットも嬉しかった。

That's why she loved the ring making set she got from Grandma and Grandad.

キレイなものを作るのはやっぱり楽しいね。

野毛山動物園に行って、全部の動物の写真を撮る凜

We went to Nogeyama Zoo, and Lin took pictures of all the animals.

でも一番喜んだのがこの「ふれあい広場」

Next we went to the Sankeien gardens.

舞はお花が奇麗な所に行きたいと言ってたからこれも喜んだ。

Mai had wanted to see pretty flowers, so she liked this place.

The girls have gotten big enough to enjoy places like this.

野良猫にもあえて嬉しかった。

The kitty was nice enough to let them pet him.

ダディーと三人の一日のお出かけ楽しかったね。

That was a full day of fun for all three of us.

地震の後でも誕生日も大事だし、顔を見て安心したいから会いに行った。

We weren't going to let the earthquake ruin Yuta's birthday, so we brought some presents over to his house.

このゴーカイジャーのおもちゃは凄く嬉しかったみたい。

Yuta really loved this Gokaiger ranger transformation toy.

いつものデパートは地震の影響で閉店だからちゃんとしたケーキが買えなかったけど、小さいケーキで取り敢えずハッピーバースデー！

All the places we would usually buy cake were closed due to the earthquake, so we had to make do with a cupcake.

いつも人のロウソクを先に吹き消す優太が、今回は焦らずに自分のタイミングで吹き消してた。

This time, Yuta got to blow out the candle on his own timing, rather than rushing to blow out someone else's.

大きなケーキがあってもいつもイチゴしかどうせ食べないから、これで大満足の優太。

Yuta didn't mind not having a big cake, since he always just eats the strawberries off the top anyway. We made sure he had as many strawberries as he wanted.

Just to reassure everyone, our extended family are all fine.

Lin was walking home from school when it happened, but took cover in a field and then ran home once the first shock ended.

We're all fine now, and are more concerned about all those who didn't get through so easily.

おしゃべり犬「ラッキー」に舞が絵本を読んであげていたら
ちょうどいいタイミングでラッキーが「わん！」と吠えた。
まるで話を本当に聞いていたかのような相づちに皆で大笑い。

Mai read her robot dog Lucky a book, and he barked to answer her just as she reached the end of a page.

「本当に聞いてたよ」と言わんばかりのラッキーと嬉しそうな舞。

We went to play in the park near Tejon's house.

This park is big, and great for kickboarding.

１月１４日はマミーの誕生日。
金曜日ということもあり、全く普通の日を過ごしたマミーに
凛が手紙付きのケーキを作ってくれた。

Lin made a birthday cake out of paper for Mommy .

What a thoughtful daughter.

そしてマイペース次女はパスポート更新用の写真撮影。
髪型が気に入らないだの、カチューシャじゃなきゃ嫌だの
散々ごねてからの撮影。
でも、これは少し顔が傾いてるから却下。

We needed to take a picture of Mai for her passport, and she was really stubborn about how to do her hair for the shot.

Once we finally convinced her to let me take the picture, she reverted to her usual head tilt pose.

But this one was straight. Time to go to the embassy.

冬休み中ということもあって少し混んでたけど
やっぱりディズニーランドは楽しい！
It was a little crowded, but Disneyland is always fun.

Mai rode Pirates of the Carribean for the first time, but kept her eyes closed the whole time.

New Year's in Okaya

Lin and Mai went to visit Jiiji and Baaba for New Year's break.

They were thrilled when it started snowing the first day.

近所のお友達と一緒にかまくら作りを始めた。

Lin and the other neighborhood kids built a kamakura snow house.

舞がすっぽり収まるサイズのかまくらが出来たよ。

It was just the right size for Mai.

「１時まで起きてても良いんでしょ！やったー！」と
夜更かしを一番楽しみにしていた舞は１１時４５分に撃沈。。

On New Year's Eve, Mai was excited to hear that she would be allowed to stay up until 1am to ring in the new year, but she faded out at 11:45.

初めて１２時まで起きて一緒に明けましておめでとうの乾杯をする凛。

Lin stayed up and did a new year's toast with everyone for the first time.

These three cousins are always happy together.

Mai was really impressed with the big cedar at the shrine.

Mai purifies her hands in the holy water...but it's really cold.

This being Nagano, however, there's also a hot spring version.

The tree is almost as big as Mai's attitude.

クリスマスプレゼントで貰った「ビックプッチンプリン」を作って食べた。
ちょー美味しいー！

They made a big pudding with a giant pudding kit they got for Christmas.

Grandma sent a weird tree thing where you add a mysterious liquid to make the paper tree grow into a Christmas tree.

少しずつ木に葉っぱが出来てきて。。。
It took a few hours, but something like needles started to come out...

4時間後にはこのようになり。。。
And four hours later it grew into this...

６時間後にツリー完成！
クッキーのデコレーションも出来て
サンタさんが来る準備完了！
And after six hours it was pretty much a Christmas tree.
Now we're ready for Santa's visit.

We had crab shabu shabu at Yuta's house as a small family Christmas party.

The adults had champagne, and then forgot to take any pictures of the crab or other delicious food.

Lin and Mai got new boots as early Christmas presents.

幼稚園のお遊戯会で「ねずみの嫁入り」をやって、
舞はネズミのちゅー子役。

Mai's kindergarten class put on the play "The Mouse Bride".

Mai (and nine other girls) played the lead character, Chūko the mouse.

年中から入園の舞にとって初めてのお遊戯会。
実は本番に弱いタイプの舞。。。
家では大きな声で歌い踊っていたけど、どうなる事かとドキドキ。。

Mai had energetically practiced her singing and dancing at home, but she tends to lose her nerve during the main event, so we weren't sure what would happen during her first ever stage performance.

でも舞はこっちがびっくりするくらい堂々と、楽しそうにちゅー子役を演じていました。
（ちゅー太に求婚されて「はい喜んで！」といってバックハグの場面）

But she didn't seem nervous at all, and had a great time singing and dancing, and she got all her lines right.

There was even a semblance of actual acting when she accepted the boy mouse's proposal with a hug.

ぞう組のみんなとっても上手だったよ！

最近凜は英語の勉強を本当によく頑張っている。

Lin has been studying English really hard recently.

その成果もちゃんと出て、１０月に受けた児童英検のGOLDに
５０問中４７問正解という素晴らしい成績での合格！
よく頑張ったね、凛！おめでとう！

And now she's got something to show for it: she passed the Gold level of the kids' English test!

Jiiji and Baaba's visit

じいじとばあばが遊びに来た。

Jiiji and Baaba came to visit, and we went to the fancy tofu place.

Lin heaped a bunch of azuki beans from the adults' dessert onto her ice cream.

At Mai's Kindergarten's festival, Mai scoops up acorns from the acorn streaming machine.

どんぐりなら森にうなる程落ちてるから使いたい放題！

The small patch of woods behind the kindergarten provides plenty of acorns for things like this.

We went trick-or-treating with the neighborhood kids.

舞は何故か直前でかぼちゃドレスの仮装に変えた。。

Mai changed costumes at the last minute.

今年は１８人も子供がいて各家を回ったから結構の距離を歩いた。

We had 18 kids this year, so the trick-or-treating course keeps getting longer.

雨で２日延期になっちゃったけど、今日は雲一つない快晴でした。

The event was delayed for two days due to rain, but we finally got blue skies for the whole day.

去年の運動会は何も出来なかった優太。
今年は自分の名前も大きな声ではっきりと言えました。

Yuta was too shy to do anything at last year's undoukai, but this year he was able to introduce himself confidently.

西湖でキャンプ！
キャンプ場へ行く前に西湖端で遊ぶ。

We played by the lakeside a bit before heading to the campground.

富士山もとってもキレイに見えました。

Mt. Fuji was beautiful.

舞がモデルポーズで「ここで撮って！」だって！

Mai spontaneously decided to pose by these boats and made us take a picture. Not a bad choice of composition, Mai!

こんなにキレイな富士山が見れたのは久しぶり。

It's been quite a while since we've seen the mountain this clearly.

何故か舞だけ一人違うポーズ。（どこまでも女優）

For some reason, the little actress had to pose differently from the rest of the family.

パパさんに餃子作りを伝授してもらう。

日の出前の西湖へ、みおちゃんが早起きして凛を連れて行ってくれた。

In the morning, Mio woke up early to take Lin down to the lake.

全然音がでない〜。

Lin tried to play Papasun's shakuhachi, but couldn't get it to make any sound.

A nice relaxing morning by the campfire.

Mai had to go back to the lake one last time.

西湖の近くにあった「こうもり穴」へ。

Then we went to see a bat cave nearby.

富士山の溶岩で出来た洞窟に入ったとたん「もう帰るー」を連発。
結局近道コースでさっさと戻りました。。

Mai freaked out as soon as we got in the caves, formed from lava from Mt. Fuji. We had to take the shorter course out of the caves.

Matsumoto Camp 2010

キャンプについてからはお友達と遊んでてほとんどずっと親の所にな寄り付かなかった。

Once at the campground, Lin ran off with her friends and barely ever came back.

犬（がんもちゃん）を凄く気に入ったみたい。

She really liked the dog too.

厳しい猛暑で倒れそうな中央高速の途中でアイス

Lin got some ice cream to try to beat the record summer heat on the expressway.

灼熱の中やっと帰り着いたら、バイクをおりて服のまま冷たい水に飛び込んだ凜。

It was so blisteringly hot that when we reached home, Lin jumped off the bike and straight into the cool water.

深羽と優羽の家族と下田の海へ１泊旅行へ行った。

We went to the beach at Shimoda with Mihane and Yuha's family.

舞は海デビュー！ずっと遊び回って楽しそうに騒いでた。

It was Mai's first trip to the beach, so she ran and splashed around all day having a great time.

ちっちゃいのが仲良く砂浜で遊び・・・

They both were so pleased with their handiwork that they've been using these rice bowls every day since.

Camping at Motosuko

本栖湖でキャンプ。
夕方近くに到着した私達はテントをはってから早速湖へ！
きれいな水でお魚やエビが沢山！

We went camping by Motosuko, one of the Fuji Five Lakes.

The lake was beautiful and full of fish and freshwater shrimp.

藍美ちゃんも一緒に。

Ivy came too (her Daddy planned the trip).

気持ちいいね〜。

Not a bad view.

ハンモックは子供達のいいおもちゃ。。

The hammock ended up mostly being a plaything.

W国籍の子供達ばかり。

There were lots of other double-nationality kids to play with.

凛とエリカちゃんはずっと仲良く遊んでました。

Lin and Erika got along great, and were happy to see each other after last year's trip.

藍美ちゃんはいつもニコニコで楽しそう。

Ivy's a really happy girl, always smiling at everybody.

The girls wanted to swim in the lake in the morning too, even though it was a lot colder. Lin and Erika never left the water.

楽しいと言いながら固まってました。
Mai also wanted to ride in the canoe. She kept saying it was fun, but she looked nervous and scared the whole time.

凛と舞が駅でいとこの優太を待つ
「まだかな〜」

Lin and Mai wait for cousin Yuta at the train station.

優太のママとパパがお引っ越しで忙しいから２週末連続で凜と舞が優太のお世話をすることになった。
まずは、電車博物館にレッツゴー！

Yuta's Mom & Dad were busy packing for the move, so Lin and Mai agreed to take care of him for two weekends in a row.

その後は高津区民際でかき氷

そして列車マニアの優太が本物のミニ蒸気機関車にも乗れた

Yuta, who loves trains, got a chance to ride a real mini steam engine.

次の週末、ばあばも引っ越しの手伝いに来てくれた。

The next weekend, Baaba came to visit too.

優太は初めて一人でのお泊まりだったけど、奈美ちゃんの心配をよそに、凜姉さんが絵本を読んであげたらあっという間に隣でぐっすり。

It was Yuta's first time sleeping over by himself, but when Lin read him a book, he fell asleep next to her pretty easily.

次の夜は近所の盆踊り祭りへ

The next night was the neighborhood bon-odori.

優太は太鼓のリズムでダンスしまくる。

Yuta boogies the night away to the taiko drums.

優太がムーア家に来てから３日目、引っ越しが済んだから凜と初めて新しいお家に行く。

The grownups finished moving everything to Yuta's new place, so the next morning, Lin took Yuta to his new home for the first time.

大好きな電車に乗り・・・

After an exciting ride on the train...

お約束の「電車さんバイバイ」を経て・・・

And taking the time to wave goodbye to the train...

Yuta finally gets to see his Mama again. (He never complained, but it must have been hard for him to be away from her for two nights.)

凄い景色だけど、やっぱり優太は乗り物にしか興味がなさそう。

The view is amazing, but Yuta mostly just notices the vehicles and heavy machinery.

後ろに落っこちそうでちょっと怖い。。。

引っ越し祝いの寿司パーティー。凜はお寿司を食べるのを待ちきれないみたい。

Lin can't wait to get at the sushi.

こういう所で遊ぶと楽しい。

It's a really nice space to play in.

そして帰ってから盆踊り２日目に。。。

「ダディー、撮って！」

And then it's a second night of bon-odori.

みんな浴衣で可愛いね。

It's a yukata fashion show.

最近は小学生チームは恥ずかしがって浴衣を着てくれないから、こうやって皆で浴衣の集合写真を撮れるのがいつまでなのか。。
とっても寂しい親心です。

The older girls are getting shy about wearing yukata recently, so it was nice to get a chance for everybody to dress up together.

Neighborhood camping

近所の家族達と西丹沢にキャンプに行って、早速川で遊ぶ。

We went camping at Nishitanzawa with some other families from our neighborhood, and the kids headed straight for the river.

猛暑の中、澄んだ冷たい水が気持ちよかった。

The clear, cool water was just what we needed on such a hot day.

Once they'd finally dried off, Mai started in with the water pistol

歩いて２０ふん近くかかる天然プール（川をせき止めて
プールにしてる）へ子供達が遊びに行った。
氷水みたいに冷たかったんだって！

Higher upstream there was a natural pool for swimming, but it was a bit of a walk.

皆で豚汁作り。
今年は舞も参加。大根の皮むきに必死。。

Everyone helped make tonjiru soup, and Mai's finally old enough to help prepare the veggies.

It wouldn't be camping without marshmallows.

暗くなったら肝試し！
お父さん達が脅かし役に。相当怖かったみたいです。

At night, the kids tested their courage by walking through the dark woods while we dads hid in the bushes to scare them.

翌朝。
皆より先にパンをつまみ食いする舞。

The next morning, Mai woke up hungry and gobbled down some bread.

朝から川で遊びたがる子供達。

We went to fetch the watermelon we had cooling in the stream. Even in the cooler morning, the kids wanted to play in the river.

川の水はとっても冷たいよー！

But it's pretty cold.

スイカは甘くてとても美味しかった。

The watermelon was juicy and sweet.

ムーア家ガレージにて打ち上げタコスパーティー。
楽しかったねー！

After getting home, we had a quick afterparty in the garage with all the leftover tacos.

目を真ん丸にしてめっちゃ見る舞。

We visited the planetarium and museum at Ikuta Ryokuchi.

そして一番高い所まで登って、その上の公園で遊んだ。

Then we climbed the biggest hill in the park and played at the playground.

いらないを塀を壊した後、近所の子供達がキレイな石などをコンクリートに埋める。

We knocked down a wall we didn't need, and then the kids put marbles and pretty rocks in the concrete we used to fill the space.

For some reason, fake eyeglasses are popular among the little girls in the neighborhood.

Tokyo Disney Sea

毎年恒例の凜の誕生日のDisney Sea (今年は事情によって何日か遅かったけど）

We made our yearly trip to Disney Sea for Lin's birthday （although we had to go a few days late this year)

凜とマミーはレイージングスピリッツに乗ったけど

Lin and Mommy rode the Raging Spirits coaster

舞もダディーも身長制限でアウト。。

Mai and Daddy were both disqualified for height reasons.

それでシンドバッドの冒険に乗ったらボート貸し切り！

But we got a whole boat to ourselves for Sindbad's Adventure

シーは水が飛び出してくる所が多い

There are lots of places where you can get wet at Disney Sea

今日は凛とベンのWバースデー！
チーズケーキが好きな凛の為にマミー手作りチーズケーキで
ハッピーバースデーをしました。
It's Lin and Daddy's birthday!
Mommy made cheesecake for Lin.

凛８歳になりました。（ベンは四十路）
何をお願いしたのかな？
Lin's now 8 years old (Daddy's 40).
I wonder what she wished for.

可愛い可愛い私達の娘凛。
どこまでも長女気質の凛は甘え下手で、心配性で、恥ずかしがりや。。
そして、頑張りやで、真面目で、とっても優しくて、心がきれい。
Lin has grown into a great big sister, but she can be bossy, and she worries and gets embarrassed and self-conscious.
But she also tries her best at everything, and always tries to be kind and helpful and honest.

そんな凛の願いが少しでも多く叶います様に。
I hope she gets whatever she wished for.

これから先、凛にとってに沢山の辛い事や悲しい事もある。
出来れば私達が代わってあげたいけど、それを乗り越えるのは自分自身だから
そんな時に少しでも心の支えになれたらと思ってる。
As parents, we wish we could shield her from the hard times and sadness she'll face in her life, but we hope we can at least be there to support her when she needs us.

今日は凛の小学校の運動会！
応援する気満々の舞。
Mai gets ready to cheer for her big sister at her elementary school field day.

ダンスを頑張ると言いながら何故に玉入れの絵？
Lin wrote that she would do her best at dancing. But for some reason she drew the ball-throwing competition.

えっと。。赤白関係ないけど。。
ま、いっか。
Mai cheers for the white team...during the dance performance that doesn't affect team scores.

恥ずかしそうでもあったけど、大きな振りで踊ってました。
Lin was a little embarrassed, but did a great job with her dance moves.

First we went to the bike shop to pick up Mommy's new leather jacket.

We usually have bad luck with clouds and the mountain, so it was nice to get such a great view.

母の日ということで、前に日に凜がマミーのいない隙をみつけてガーナチョコを買っておいた。（うちはCMと関係なく、ずっと前から母の日や誕生日にガーナをあげている。）
Lin managed to buy a chocolate bar for Mother's Day when Mommy wasn't looking the day before, and they presented it with wildflowers from around the campground.

キャンプ場の野花で凛舞が花束を作ってくれた。意外と綺麗！
I think the girls have pretty good taste in flowers.

帰りの高速は舞がずっと寝てた。ベルトでダディに縛られてるから落ちる心配はないけど、変な体制になる。
Mai slept most of the way home on the expressway. I've got her belted to me, so there's no worry of her falling off, but sleeping slumped over like that can't be comfortable.

サービスエリアに休憩で入っても熟睡のまま。。
子供ってすごい。。
She didn't even wake up when we stopped to rest.
But when we got home, she said she had a great time.
